Spiritual/Mythic Coaching

Together we can negotiate such challenges as: coming out, aging, career transitions, spiritual emergence, and death and dying. I will help you: clarify your values and goals, identify your strengths, and apply a learning mindset to expand your solution space.

In our sessions, I will facilitate your access to the power of language and story to shift the containing myth and associated internal dialogues by which you create your lived reality. We will survey the territory under your current maps and, hopefully, find your True North again. Imagine the Undiscovered Country of possibilities that awaits.

I am at heart a translator, a living bridge between worlds.  I serve as a personal coach and mythworker who applies the power of imagination and creative energy to activate individual and collective transformation.  I integrate my skills as a trans-disciplinary researcher in education, linguistics, and anthropology, my background in trauma/polyvagal theory, narrative healing, and decades of work as an educator, faculty developer, and assessment specialist to move my clients towards their best selves. 

I lead online workshops, courses and seminars related to such topics as: death and dying, gay and queer men’s issues, managing life transitions and personal mythology. I hold a CMT-HE certification, a PhD in Educational Research (Language, Literacy and Culture) from UC Davis and an MA and BA in linguistics and cognitive science from UC Berkeley.  I have applied my education in service as a professor, mentor and learning and curriculum specialist at seven institutions including CIIS and UC Davis,

I attune to the needs of my clients’ spiritual, physical, and emotional needs, help them clarify their goals and target states, and eliminate obstacles to the force of life and all that wishes them well.  As a spiritual counselor and elder, I facilitate life transitions (as officiant in memorials and weddings, for example) and provide practical ritual tools and rites of passage for reducing anxiety, reanimating a sense of purpose and resolving the mythic conflicts at the root of so much psychic pain.  For lane changers, I offer career guidance and support in applying to graduate school.

As an independent consultant for Edvaluators, I advised diverse organizations (e.g., a doula service for women of color in San Francisco, a service provider to children on the autism spectrum, an esports higher education consultancy). I refined their strategies and decision-support processes, developed intellectual property, and created high-impact dissemination campaigns.

My publications in several fields include the edited volume So What? Now What? The Anthropology of Consciousness Responds to a World in Crisis (2009). I am an accomplished communicator in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, master teacher, team leader, and coach who has presented high-impact workshops and trainings in 5 countries.
